Top Tips For Washing Your Sex Doll Wigs

Sex dolls have become more realistic in recent years and one of the elements that has contributed to this is the hair. Gone is the obviously nylon stuff that might just crackle with static when it moves against your pillow, and instead you can enjoy something that either feels real or may be made from human hair.

That can provide a pleasant, realistic feel, but it also means it needs to be kept clean, synthetic or not.

True, it won’t be put through everything human hair is when subjected to the outdoor environment with its rain, air pollution, or being targeted by a pigeon. Nor will it sweat or attract the kind of bugs that thrive in living hair.

However, it can still pick up dust, sweat (yours, specifically), have things spilt on it, and attract bacteria on your pillow (of which there may be a lot), or bedclothes.

The good news is you can clean any doll’s hair, even the sort your sister played with as a kid.

Dolls Like Me advises that if you have a doll with human hair, the key is to avoid using either hot water or lathering the hair with shampoo, as either action can cause the glue attaching it to the scalp to melt, and the last ‘realistic’ thing you want is alopecia.

Use wig shampoo, mild shampoo, or baby shampoo and take the doll and tip her head upside down so the scalp is out of the water. Very gently lather the hair that is not near the scalp and allow it to air dry. This stage is also the time to remove any debris or tangles.

When putting the hair back on, do it from the black, with the hair allowed to cascade down. This is how to fit it so it is on properly, but of course, in this position, any remaining moisture can drip dry.

By gently washing your doll’s hair, you can enjoy the clean, fresh feel without it getting dirty. Indeed, if you have had past girlfriends with poor hair care, you may feel this is a distinct improvement!

step

Clean wig cover

  1. Use a hairbrush or comb to comb the wig starting from the ends. First, gently comb the ends of your wig. Once you've smoothed out the knots, slowly work your way up to the roots of your hair until the brush or comb can pass through your hair smoothly. Use a wire wig brush to comb straight or wavy wigs; use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to comb wigs for curly hair, including those with natural curly or African hair. [1]
  2. Fill the sink with cold water and squeeze in 1-2 drops of shampoo. Choose a suitable high-quality shampoo according to the hair quality of the wig you are washing. For example, if you are washing a hair wrap for curly hair, use a shampoo specifically designed for curly hair. If the wig has been dyed, use a color-protecting shampoo.
    • Do not apply shampoo directly to the wig. Mix them into soapy water and then use it to wash the wig.
    • Don't use 2-in-1 shampoo that contains conditioner. You can use conditioner on your wig, but not too close to the roots. [2]
  3. Turn the wig cover inside out and immerse it in water. Use your fingers to turn the wig cover from the inside out to let the hair hang loosely. Put the wig into the water and press it down so that all the hair is immersed in the water. Gently stir the wig cover to distribute the shampoo evenly to all hair strands. [3]
    • Turn the wig inside out so that the shampoo can more easily reach the parts of the hairnet where the most dirt, sweat, and oil collect.
  4. Soak the wig cover for 5 minutes. Make sure it is completely submerged in the water. There is no need to stir the wig cover at this time. Excessive stirring, squeezing or tossing can cause strands to become tangled. [4]
  5. Rinse the wig cover with cold water to remove all shampoo. You can rinse it in a bucket of ice-cold water or in the sink or shower. If the wig is very thick, it may need to be rinsed twice. [5]
  6. Apply conditioner to the wig cover. Apply a little conditioner to the wig and gently comb through with your fingers. If it is a lace front wig, do not apply conditioner to the hairnet. Since the hair strands are tied to the lace net, if you apply conditioner to the hair net, the hair strands may become loose. [6] If it is an ordinary hair curtain, there is no problem, because the hair is sewn on the hair net.
    • Use a good quality conditioner.
    • You can also use a leave-in conditioner.
  7. Wait 2 minutes and then rinse off the conditioner with cold water. Just like you would on real hair, leave the conditioner on the wig for a few minutes to allow the nourishing oils to penetrate into the hair and moisturize it. After 2 minutes, rinse the wig cover again with cold water until the running water becomes clear again. [7]
    • If you use leave-in conditioner, you can skip this step.

dry wig

  1. Turn the wig cover back over and gently squeeze out the water. Hold the wig over the sink and gently squeeze out any excess water with a fist. Do not twist or twist hair strands as this can cause them to tangle or break. [8]
    • Do not comb the wig while it is still wet to avoid damaging the hair and causing the wig to become frizzy.
  2. Roll up the wig cover in a towel and squeeze out and absorb excess moisture. Place the wig on one end of a clean towel. Starting from the end where the wig is laid, roll the towel tightly into a cylinder. Press down on the towel and then gently release it to remove the wig. [9]
    • If the wig is long, smooth out all the strands so they don't bunch up.
  3. Apply the product you want to use to the wig. Spray some conditioning spray on the wig to help smooth out the hair later. Keep a distance of 25-30 cm between the spray bottle and the wig. [10] If you have curly hair, consider applying a little styling mousse. [11]
  4. Let the wig dry naturally and avoid direct sunlight. Do not comb wet wigs to avoid damaging the hair strands. [12] If you have curly hair, you can occasionally use your fingers to rub it. [13]
    • Scrunching is to use the palm of your hand to tuck the ends of your hair into a ball, lift it up, and then bend your fingers inward. This helps the curls clump and shape.
    • If you use a foam head mold to dry your wig, be sure to fit it securely onto the wig stand. If necessary, the wig can be fixed to the head model with hairpins.
  5. If you're in a hurry, you can use a hairdryer to dry your wig. Start by drying the hair net with a hair dryer. After drying the hair net, put on the wig and secure it with bobby pins. Keep the wig on as it is and continue to blow dry it. Use a low temperature setting to avoid damaging your hair. [14]
    • Before putting on the wig, be sure to clip up your real hair and cover them with a hairnet.
  6. If you want your wig to look more voluminous, hang it upside down to dry. Turn the wig upside down and clip the hairnet at the nape of your neck to your pants rack. You need to move the clips on the pant rack closer. Hang the wig in the shower for a few hours to let it dry naturally. During this time, do not shower. [15]
    • If you don't have access to a shower, hang it somewhere where it won't be damaged by water dripping from the wig.

Styling and maintaining wig covers

  1. After the wig is completely dry, comb it with a hairbrush or comb. Use a wire wig brush to comb straight or wavy wigs; use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to comb curly hair wigs. Comb your hair from ends to roots. If necessary, use a smoothing spray.
  2. If necessary, re-curl the wig. Some wigs are made from naturally curly hair, while others are made from straight hair curled with a curling iron. The latter will straighten again after washing, but you can easily curl them again the same way you would curl your real hair. [16]
    • Curls are safer because no heat is required. If you must use a curling iron, it is recommended to use a low setting.
  3. When the wig is not being worn, it should be placed on a vase or wig stand. If you use a vase, consider stuffing a scented tissue inside. [17]
  4. Wash the wig when it gets dirty. If you wear your wig every day, plan to wash it every 2-4 weeks. [18] If you don’t wear it that frequently, you can wash it once a month.
  5. If you wear a wig every day, be sure to take care of your natural hair. Even if you use a wig to cover up your real hair, you can't ignore your real hair. Keep your hair and scalp healthy so your wig stays clean longer, too.
    • If you have dry hair, be sure to moisturize it. This will not affect the wig and will keep your real hair healthy.
